Albina Engine & Machine Works was founded in 1904 as a repair yard, by William Cornfoot, a Scotsman. It survived the lean inter-war years and flourished in WWII but closed in the 1980s. It was located on N. River Street, in the Albina section of Portland, upstream of the Fremont Bridge. ==External Links== * [http://shipbuildinghistory.com/history/shipyards/2large/inactive/albina.htm Roster of ships built by Albina] * [http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&ie=UTF8&t=h&om=0&ll=45.537926,-122.678608&spn=0.003359,0.006609&z=17 Current aerial view of Albina's location] * [http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,850365,00.html?iid=perma_share Albina's Al] From the Monday, Sep. 27, 1943 issue of ''Time''.
